Planning Your Abortion: What To Consider

Nellie Ryan

Abortion services are available to individuals who wish to get an abortion and want to do so discreetly and safely. There are several reasons to get an abortion, many of them personal, and you are owed the quality medical care required to undergo a procedure to end your pregnancy.

As you plan your abortion, consider the following things. This will help make going through the procedure much easier and help you keep track of the things you should do before, during, and after you visit an abortion services facility.

Find someone you trust to come with you

While you can get an abortion on your own and do so privately, it's not recommended. You'll need someone to drive you from the clinic after you have your procedure done and it can be helpful to have a trusted friend or family member to assist you through this. If you don't know anyone who can come with you to the abortion clinic, the clinic may be able to provide you with a helpful aide, therapist, or counselor.

Bring something to keep you distracted

There will be some time you will remain in the abortion services clinic before you are released following your procedure, so take something with you to keep you distracted and entertained until you are cleared. A book, your cell phone with quiet games or social media, a magazine, or even a quiet fidget toy can prove to be a welcome distraction.

Take time off work, school, or family

Even if an abortion is entirely something you desire, there will be a period of time where your body and mind will need to heal from your procedure after you come home from the clinic. Arrange to take a few days off from work or school, and if you have children, arrange for child care. The time to yourself can help you get back on your feet again and help your body recover by being able to fully rest.

If getting an abortion is causing anxiety or fear in any way, it's OK and encouraged to speak to a therapist before going through with your abortion. Your abortion services specialist can arrange for mental health care should you need it, and can help you feel at peace with whatever decision you come to. The choice is yours, and abortion services are there to support you every step of the way. Contact an abortion service to learn more.

About Me
Over 50? Keeping Up With Your Healthcare Needs

As an adult in my 50s, I find that my body isn't as strong as it used to be. But I don't let that stop me from enjoying life! In fact, I make every effort to get the treatments I need from my doctor to improve my health. I know that I'm not a senior yet, but I do all I can to prevent the health problems that affect that age group. Because of this, I put together a health blog for people over age 50. My blog isn't a review of what you can easily find on the Internet. It's a plethora of unique information designed to help you find the services you need fast. What my blog doesn't do is tell you what to do for your health. Instead, it offers guidance and options. Please, enjoy the blog and happy reading.
